Founders Intent

Maybe Johnny can't read......

But he sure knows how to apply a condom. And after all, isn't that what's really important? We are currently graduating the highest percentage of illiterate seniors in American history, and the NEAs (National Education Association) answer is more money. Money is not our problem, our problem is a spiritual one. In 1962 we dismissed God from our education system and relegated Him to the trash heap of "Unconstitutionality".

Many will laugh at that assessment, but we merely need to look at the facts to find the true illness, as well as the cure:

52 of our 55 founding fathers were Orthodox/Evangelical Christians and the penned the first amendment to the U.S. Constitution in such as way as to guarantee our incessant religious freedoms: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, nor prohibiting the free exercise thereof."

They never intended for our governing bodies to be "separated" from Christianity and its principles. The phrase "Separation of Church and State" has been bandied about for so long that 67% of all Americans believe that it is actually in the Constitution. In fact, those three words (S-C-S) appear nowhere in the Constitution. In 1802, Thomas Jefferson responded by letter to the Danbury Baptists, who were concerned of rumors they had heard that the government was about to form a national denomination, as had Great Britain. He calmed their fears stating that the first amendment was meant to be a one directional wall, utilized to keep the government from running the church. His letter was never meant to be used to keep Christian principles out of the government. Many other quotes can attest to this fact:

Patrick Henry (Give me liberty of give me death) said, "It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists but by Christians, not on religions, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ."

John Jay (first Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court), "Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers and it is the duty as well as the privilege and interest of a Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers."

1892 Supreme Court ruling in Church of the Holy Trinity vs. U.S. (citing 87 precedents [previous cases]), "Our laws and our institutions must necessarily be based upon and embody the teachings of the Redeemer of Mankind. It is impossible that it should be otherwise and in this sense and to this extent our civilization and our institutions are emphatically Christian."

In fact, throughout history, the U.S. Supreme Court continually cited previous cases in order to maintain our Christian Constitution. However, in 1962, for the first time in American history, the court cited no previous cases and ruled in the Engel vs. Vitale decision that; because of Separation of Church and State, the government needed to be separated from Christian principles. So, the simple school prayer, "Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence upon thee and we beg thy blessings upon us, our parents, our teachers, and our country" became unconstitutional and our schools began to plummet toward imminent destruction.

David Barton, of WallBuilders Inc, provides evidence which confirms this fact in his book, "AMERICA - TO PRAY OR NOT TO PRAY." In it, he displays several graphs which trace the exact time at which our country began to fall apart. Each chart displays a time line which begins several years prior to 1962 and ends 30 years after. Without fail, every graph depicts a sharp rise or fall (depending on its subject) beginning in 1963 (given a year for the effects to begin) through today. Premarital Sexual Activity rates, STD rates, Pregnancy rates, Single Parent households, Divorce Rates, and Violent Crime rates all skyrocketed. SAT scores and business productivity rates plummeted.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to look at the statistics and realize that Abraham Lincoln was speaking prophetically when he said, "It is the duty of nations...to own [admit] their dependence upon the overruling power of God..and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord." And "but for the Bible we could not know right from wrong. All things most desirable for man's welfare...are to be found portrayed in it." And, "the philosophy of the school room in one generation will be the philosophy of the government in the next."

When the government education system (public schools) censors our rich Christian heritage from our children, and pilgrims are portrayed as merely "people who traveled", it is easy to understand from whence our fated destruction began. Our children should have been taught that Noah Webster said, "The principles of all genuine liberty, and of wise laws and administrations are to be drawn from the Bible and sustained by its authority. The man therefore who weakens or destroys the divine authority of that book may be accessory to all the public disorders which society is doomed to suffer."

Is our society suffering? Just watch the news! Organizations like the ACLU have stripped us of every vestige of our Christian heritage for long enough. We are tired of them destroying our country by declaring God unconstitutional. Our nation was founded on the principles laid out by the God of the Bible and we're saying ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! Where there is no foundation, there are no laws and what results is anarchy brought forth by moral relativism. THEIR way has failed. The time has come for us to take back that which once was and let the healing begin.
